I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #29009) specializing in mental health and recovery support for adolescents, adults, and families. I provide therapeutic services via telehealth throughout southern California. Being Ecuadorian and having lived there has helped me approach all therapeutic work with a cultural humility lens. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, life transitions, behavior modification, academic challenges, addiction recovery management, and grief & loss support. My approach to therapy is built on an eclectic orientation of various therapeutic focuses such as: psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, existential therapy, and a strength-based approach. This combination has been very effective in processing and resolving issues related to, mood disorders, recovery, life transitions, self-esteem, personal growth, career, and relationships challenges.
In addition to my private practice, I have worked for over 20 years in community mental health centers throughout Los Angeles County. My professional interests during that time include working with adolescents, adults, and families with a focus on mental health, crisis-oriented treatment, and substance abuse recovery support. Much of that time was also spend in leadership roles (i.e., Program Director, Program Manager, Clinical Supervisor) where I was able to work alongside and assist in the development of many wonderful professionals in a variety of treatment disciplines. My other professional passion is teaching, and I have been an Adjunct Professor of graduate studies for the School of Social Work at California State University Los Angeles for over 15 years.
My personal passions include fatherhood, basketball, music, and learning. I enjoy participating in self-care activities such going to the gym, walks/runs for recharging my mind, evening reflections, listening to music, and enjoying a nice cup of tea. I also enjoy traveling, going to the beach, and most importantly family time. I believe it's important to live in the moment and use every life lesson as a growth opportunity.
